Description
Tender, slow-cooked beef chuck roast seasoned with aromatic spices, served on toasted hoagie rolls with melted provolone cheese and a rich au jus for dipping.
Ingredients
3–4 lbs beef chuck roast
1 onion, thinly sliced
3 cups beef broth
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
4–6 hoagie rolls
6 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
Season beef generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme.,Sear beef in hot skillet 4-5 minutes per side until browned (optional but recommended).,Place sliced onions in slow cooker, add beef on top.,Pour beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce over beef.,Cook on low 7-8 hours or high 4-5 hours until beef shreds easily.,Remove beef, shred with forks, return to slow cooker.,Toast hoagie rolls under broiler or in skillet until golden.,Pile shredded beef on rolls, top with provolone cheese.,Broil 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.,Strain cooking liquid for au jus and serve alongside sandwiches.
