  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 small yellow onion, sliced
  • 6 ounces (170 grams) button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 (10.5-ounces/298 grams) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (10.5-ounces/298 grams) can French onion soup
  • 1 cup (240 milliliters) beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly dry the cube steaks with paper towels.
  2. Season the cube steaks with salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  3. Layer the seasoned steaks with sliced onions and mushrooms in the crock pot.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, French onion soup, beef broth, and tomato paste until smooth.
  5. Pour the gravy mixture over the layered steaks and vegetables.
  6. Set the crock pot to LOW and cook for 7-8 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours until fork-tender.
  7. In the final hour, make a slurry by whisking cornstarch with cold water and mix into the gravy.
  8. Serve the steak topped with the mushroom-onion gravy.

For extra flavor, sear the steaks in a skillet before adding to the crock pot. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
