Description
A flavorful twist on the classic Caesar salad featuring crispy buffalo tofu, fresh romaine, and zesty Caesar dressing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 block of firm tofu, pressed
- 1/2 cup buffalo sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
- 1/2 cup Caesar dressing (vegetarian)
- 1/4 cup croutons
- 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Press the tofu: Remove excess moisture from the tofu by placing it between two plates under a weighted object for at least 15 minutes. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- Heat olive oil: In a large frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
- Cook tofu: Add the tofu cubes and cook for about 6-8 minutes until golden brown, turning occasionally for even browning.
- Buffalo sauce coating: Toss the cooked tofu in 1/2 cup of buffalo sauce and cook for an additional minute.
- Prep the salad: In a large bowl, combine chopped romaine lettuce, Caesar dressing, and optional nutritional yeast. Toss until well coated.
- Assemble: Top the dressed romaine with the crispy buffalo tofu and croutons.
- Season: Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve and enjoy: Serve in a large bowl and dig in!
Notes
For extra crispiness, consider baking the tofu instead of pan-frying. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to three days.
