Description

Creepy Chocolate Pretzels are a fun and easy Halloween treat perfect for parties or spooky snacking. Simple pretzel rods or twists are dipped in melted chocolate and decorated with creepy-crawly candies like candy eyes, sprinkles, and other festive decorations to create a deliciously frightening snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (12 ounces) Pretzel Rods
  • 1 bag (12 ounces) White Chocolate Melting Wafers
  • 1 bag (12 ounces) Milk or Semi-Sweet Chocolate Melting Wafers
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil or Vegetable Shortening (divided)
  • Candy Eyeballs (various sizes)
  • Halloween-themed Sprinkles
  • Black or Red Oil-Based Food Coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Melt the chocolate wafers according to package instructions, using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  3. Dip each pretzel rod about two-thirds of the way into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off.
  4. Place the chocolate-dipped pretzel on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. While the chocolate is still wet, immediately decorate with candy eyeballs, sprinkles, or other Halloween-themed candies.
  6. For an extra creepy effect, use the black icing to draw spider webs, cracks, or other designs on the set chocolate.
  7. Allow the chocolate to fully set and harden at room temperature or by placing the tray in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  8. Store in an airtight container at cool room temperature.

Notes

  • For a ‘dirty’ look, roll the chocolate-dipped end in crushed chocolate cookies or Oreo crumbs before the chocolate sets.
  • If using pretzel twists, you can partially dip them or drizzle chocolate over them for a different effect.
  • To create ‘monster’ pretzels, use white chocolate and add different colored candies for features.
  • Work quickly when decorating, as the chocolate will begin to set and candies will not stick.
