Simple pretzel rods or twists are dipped in melted chocolate and decorated with creepy-crawly candies like candy eyes, sprinkles, and other festive decorations to create a deliciously frightening snack.
Ingredients
- 1 bag (12 ounces) Pretzel Rods
- 1 bag (12 ounces) White Chocolate Melting Wafers
- 1 bag (12 ounces) Milk or Semi-Sweet Chocolate Melting Wafers
- 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil or Vegetable Shortening (divided)
- Candy Eyeballs (various sizes)
- Halloween-themed Sprinkles
- Black or Red Oil-Based Food Coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Melt the chocolate wafers according to package instructions, using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Dip each pretzel rod about two-thirds of the way into the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off.
- Place the chocolate-dipped pretzel on the prepared baking sheet.
- While the chocolate is still wet, immediately decorate with candy eyeballs, sprinkles, or other Halloween-themed candies.
- For an extra creepy effect, use the black icing to draw spider webs, cracks, or other designs on the set chocolate.
- Allow the chocolate to fully set and harden at room temperature or by placing the tray in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- Store in an airtight container at cool room temperature.
Notes
- For a ‘dirty’ look, roll the chocolate-dipped end in crushed chocolate cookies or Oreo crumbs before the chocolate sets.
- If using pretzel twists, you can partially dip them or drizzle chocolate over them for a different effect.
- To create ‘monster’ pretzels, use white chocolate and add different colored candies for features.
