  • Author: chef caterina
  • Total Time: 4+ hrs (including chilling)
  • Yield: 2.5 cups (about 10 servings)

Description

A fresh, vibrant cranberry relish with a perfect balance of tart and sweet flavors, made with raw cranberries and citrus for a bright, chunky texture that pairs perfectly with holiday meals.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 medium orange (with peel)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Rinse cranberries and pick out any soft or spoiled berries.
  2. In a food processor, pulse the orange quarters until finely chopped.
  3. Add cranberries and pulse until evenly chopped but still chunky (about 10-15 pulses).
  4. Transfer mixture to a bowl and stir in both sugars, cinnamon, and ginger.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight) to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Before serving, stir in orange liqueur/juice and nuts if using.

Notes

  • For smoother texture, process longer; for chunkier, process less.
  • Flavor improves after 24 hours in refrigerator.
  • Keeps for up to 2 weeks refrigerated in airtight container.
  • For spicy variation, add pinch of cayenne pepper.
