  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest (freshly grated)
  • 2 cups cranberries (fresh or frozen, thawed and drained)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for the cranberry filling)
  • 1 orange (zested and juiced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon clove
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter (for the glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for the glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/2 tablespoon orange zest (for that final touch)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cranberry Filling: In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, add cranberries, sugar, and juice and zest of 1 orange. Bring to a boil and then simmer until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Make the Dough: Melt butter in a microwave-safe bowl, add warm milk, and sprinkle yeast over the mixture. Let it sit for a few minutes. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and zest. Mix in milk mixture and egg. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  3. Prepare the Orange Filling: Mix softened butter, granulated sugar, zest, and spices until creamy.
  4. Roll and Bake: Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread orange filling, add cranberry filling, then roll tightly. Cut into slices and place in a greased baking dish. Let rise for 1 hour, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-30 minutes.
  5. Make the Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, melted butter, milk, and orange juice until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls and add extra zest.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute with plant-based milk and butter. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to a week.
