- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Mix in the all-purpose flour and salt until just combined, then gently fold in the vanilla extract and chocolate chips.
- Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking pan with your fingertips until evenly spread.
- Blend the peanut butter and powdered sugar together in another bowl until smooth and creamy; then spread this mixture over the dough layer in the pan.
- Crumble the remaining dough on top of the peanut butter layer and sprinkle with additional chocolate chips.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the center looks set.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars and serving.
Notes
To elevate flavor, consider using organic, grass-fed butter and high-quality dark chocolate chips.
