Description

A sweet treat made from mung beans and coconut milk, shaped into colorful fruit figures for a fun and interactive culinary experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup dried shelled mung beans
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pandan leaf (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon agar agar powder
  • 1 1/2 cups water for agar
  • Food coloring (choose your favorite colors)
  • Small leaves for decoration (mint or basil leaves)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and cook the mung beans: Rinse the mung beans in cold water until clear. Combine with water and the pandan leaf in a pot, boil and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
  2. Mash and cook the mixture: Remove the pandan leaf, blend the beans until smooth, and cook in a skillet until a thick dough forms.
  3. Cool and knead the dough: Transfer to a bowl to cool, then knead until smooth and pliable. Shape into fruit forms.
  4. Color your fruits: Mix food coloring with a bit of water and paint or dip each fruit.
  5. Prepare the agar agar glaze: Boil the agar agar powder with water until dissolved.
  6. Glaze the fruits: Dip each colored fruit in the glaze, allowing excess to drip off, and aim for a glossy finish.
  7. Set and decorate: Let the glazed fruits cool and dry for 30 minutes, then add decorative leaves.

Notes

Use high-quality coconut milk and agar for the best results. Experiment with flavors and colors to customize your treats.
