- 1/2 cup dried shelled mung beans
- 2 cups water
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 pandan leaf (optional)
- 1 tablespoon agar agar powder
- 1 1/2 cups water for agar
- Food coloring (choose your favorite colors)
- Small leaves for decoration (mint or basil leaves)
Instructions
- Rinse and cook the mung beans: Rinse the mung beans in cold water until clear. Combine with water and the pandan leaf in a pot, boil and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
- Mash and cook the mixture: Remove the pandan leaf, blend the beans until smooth, and cook in a skillet until a thick dough forms.
- Cool and knead the dough: Transfer to a bowl to cool, then knead until smooth and pliable. Shape into fruit forms.
- Color your fruits: Mix food coloring with a bit of water and paint or dip each fruit.
- Prepare the agar agar glaze: Boil the agar agar powder with water until dissolved.
- Glaze the fruits: Dip each colored fruit in the glaze, allowing excess to drip off, and aim for a glossy finish.
- Set and decorate: Let the glazed fruits cool and dry for 30 minutes, then add decorative leaves.
Notes
Use high-quality coconut milk and agar for the best results. Experiment with flavors and colors to customize your treats.
