Description

A delightful and simple recipe for classic Christmas toffee, perfect for sharing and creating holiday memories.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts (pecans, almonds, or walnuts), flaked sea salt, or festive sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once bubbly, stir in sugar, salt, and vanilla extract.
  3. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it reaches around 300°F on a candy thermometer, approximately 10-15 minutes.
  4. Carefully pour the hot toffee onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
  5. While the toffee is still warm, sprinkle chocolate chips over the top and let them melt for about 5 minutes.
  6. Gently spread the melted chocolate to cover the toffee.
  7. Sprinkle your choice of toppings while the chocolate is still soft.
  8. Let the toffee set at room temperature until completely cool and hardened, about 1-2 hours, then break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
