Description

A comforting bread filled with sweet cinnamon sugar swirls and topped with a luscious frosting, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (about 95-110°F)
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, softened
  • 3 1/3 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons dry buttermilk (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 3 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted (for filling)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla (for frosting)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Pour the warm water into the bowl of a stand mixer. Sprinkle the yeast over the surface and let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it becomes foamy.
  2. Add the softened butter, bread flour, dry buttermilk, sugar, and salt to the yeast mixture. Using the paddle attachment, mix until combined.
  3. Switch to the dough hook and knead on medium speed for about 5-7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for approximately 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  5. Flour your work surface and roll the dough into a rectangle about 9″ x 18″ in size.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Spread the melted butter over the rolled-out dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  7. Starting at the 9″ end, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal and place the log seam-side down into a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  8. Cover the pan and let the bread rise for another 20 minutes until puffed.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the bread for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown and pulling away from the sides of the loaf pan.
  10. While the bread is cooling, whisk together the powdered sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and heavy cream in a small bowl until smooth.
  11. Once the bread is mostly cool, spread or drizzle the frosting over the top. Let it set for a few minutes before slicing.
