Description
A comforting bread filled with sweet cinnamon sugar swirls and topped with a luscious frosting, perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/4 cups warm water (about 95-110°F)
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons salted butter, softened
- 3 1/3 cups bread flour
- 2 tablespoons dry buttermilk (optional)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 3 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted (for filling)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla (for frosting)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream (for frosting)
Instructions
- Pour the warm water into the bowl of a stand mixer. Sprinkle the yeast over the surface and let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it becomes foamy.
- Add the softened butter, bread flour, dry buttermilk, sugar, and salt to the yeast mixture. Using the paddle attachment, mix until combined.
- Switch to the dough hook and knead on medium speed for about 5-7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for approximately 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Flour your work surface and roll the dough into a rectangle about 9″ x 18″ in size.
- In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Spread the melted butter over the rolled-out dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the top.
- Starting at the 9″ end, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal and place the log seam-side down into a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- Cover the pan and let the bread rise for another 20 minutes until puffed.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the bread for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown and pulling away from the sides of the loaf pan.
- While the bread is cooling, whisk together the powdered sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and heavy cream in a small bowl until smooth.
- Once the bread is mostly cool, spread or drizzle the frosting over the top. Let it set for a few minutes before slicing.
