Description

A delightful recipe for warm, soft cinnamon rolls with a gooey, flavorful filling that evokes cherished memories.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the warm milk, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the flour mixture. Mix until a rough dough forms.
  4. Lightly flour your workspace and knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour.
  6. Roll the risen dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it.
  7. Mix brown sugar and ground cinnamon, and sprinkle over the buttery layer.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 even slices.
  9. Place slices in a greased baking dish and let them rise for about 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Mix powdered sugar and milk for icing and drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
