Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • Red, green, and white candy melts (for decoration)
  • Mini candy bows or holiday sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove and whisk in the sugar until smooth. Let cool slightly, then mix in the eggs and vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold into the wet mixture until just combined. Add chocolate chips if using.
  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  7. Lift the brownies out using the parchment paper and cut into squares.
  8. Melt the candy melts in the microwave and decorate the brownies. Add mini bows or sprinkles if desired.
  9. Let the decorations harden before serving.
