- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- Red, green, and white candy melts (for decoration)
- Mini candy bows or holiday sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove and whisk in the sugar until smooth. Let cool slightly, then mix in the eggs and vanilla.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold into the wet mixture until just combined. Add chocolate chips if using.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- Lift the brownies out using the parchment paper and cut into squares.
- Melt the candy melts in the microwave and decorate the brownies. Add mini bows or sprinkles if desired.
- Let the decorations harden before serving.
