A delightful mix of sweet and salty, this simple and quick Christmas Crack is the perfect holiday treat that combines buttery toffee, rich chocolate, and crunchy Saltine crackers.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Butter (unsalted, room temperature)
  • 12 oz Semi-sweet or Dark Chocolate Chips
  • Saltine Crackers (regular-sized)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with foil.
  2. Place one layer of Saltine crackers in the pan.
  3. In a saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar, heating over medium heat until it comes to a rolling boil. Stir until thick and bubbly (about 3 minutes).
  4. Pour the toffee mixture over the crackers, spreading evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 7 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let sit for 2 minutes to soften, then spread the melting chocolate.
  7. Optionally, sprinkle crushed nuts or sea salt on top.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to cool and set, then break into pieces and enjoy.
