Description

Delicious and festive cookie bars made with rich chocolate and colorful M&M’s, perfect for the holiday season.


Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup Christmas M&M’s (divided, ½ cup for the dough, ½ cup for topping)
  • ¼ cup white chocolate chips (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by lightly greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with both the granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. Stir in the baking soda and salt, then gradually add the flour, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and ½ cup of the Christmas M&M’s.
  6. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan and top with the remaining M&M’s and white chocolate chips.
  7. Bake for 26-30 minutes until the edges are lightly golden, and a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  8. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

For best results, ensure the butter is thoroughly softened before mixing.
