- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- Red chocolate hearts for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the egg, then stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Flatten each ball slightly and place a red chocolate heart on top.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden at the edges.
- Let cool on wire racks.
Notes
Don’t overmix the dough after adding the flour. For a crispier cookie, let them bake for a minute longer.
