- 16 tablespoons (220 grams) salted butter, at room temperature
- 3/4 cup (88 grams) powdered sugar
- 2 large oranges, zested
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups (260 grams) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup (145 grams) chopped dark chocolate
Instructions
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter, orange zest, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour and kosher salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until the dough is shaggy.
- Fold in the chopped dark chocolate.
- Transfer the dough onto plastic wrap, shape into two logs, and chill for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Slice the logs into ⅓ inch discs and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes until edges are golden brown.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet.
