Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter until completely liquid (3-5 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar until combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla and orange extracts.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and orange zest.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until tops are shiny and slightly crinkled.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For a more fudgy texture, reduce flour to 3/4 cup and increase cocoa powder to 1 1/4 cups. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
