Description

Rich and creamy Chocolate Eggnog Mousse Cups that combine the comforting flavors of eggnog and chocolate, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups eggnog
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • Extra nutmeg or chocolate shavings for topping

Instructions

  1. Heat the eggnog in a small saucepan until steaming but not boiling, about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Pour the hot eggnog over the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl and let sit for 1 minute, then whisk until smooth.
  3. Create a slurry by mixing cornstarch with water and stir into the chocolate mixture while cooking over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract; let cool to room temperature.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Fold the cooled chocolate mixture into the whipped cream until just combined.
  7. Spoon into individual cups and chill for at least 2 hours until set.
  8. Top with whipped cream, nutmeg, or chocolate shavings before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover mousse cups in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The mousse can be made up to 3 days in advance.
