Description

These Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls blend rich cocoa and fragrant cinnamon in a tender, gooey pastry that’s perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp softened butter

Instructions

  1. Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let it bloom for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Combine flour, cocoa powder, and cinnamon in another bowl.
  3. Gradually add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the flour mixture, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Spread softened butter on the dough, then sprinkle the filling mixture of brown sugar, cocoa powder, and cinnamon.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 equal rolls, placing them in a greased baking pan.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool slightly before serving.

Avoid over-baking to keep rolls moist. For best results, use fresh yeast.
