Description

Deliciously tender and buttery chocolate chip scones that are perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, cold, cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk or regular milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. Add the cold butter to the flour mixture and break apart until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and vanilla extract, mix until a crumbly dough forms.
  5. Gently knead the dough until it forms a cohesive ball, careful not to overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Shape the dough into an 8-inch circle on the prepared sheet and cut into eight triangles.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  9. Cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Brush tops with melted butter after baking for a glossy finish. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature.
