Description
A heartwarming dish featuring tender chicken cutlets in a rich and creamy basil sauce, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- ½ cup milk
- ¾ cup dried Italian breadcrumbs
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup chopped fresh basil
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 275°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Slice each chicken breast horizontally to create four cutlets and pound to about ½-inch thickness.
- Dip each cutlet in milk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat evenly with breadcrumbs.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Transfer the chicken to the greased baking dish and place it in the oven for 15-20 minutes to finish cooking.
- In the same skillet, sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds. Add the chicken broth and bring it to a boil.
- Stir in the heavy whipping cream and bring it to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and mix in the Parmesan, basil, and black pepper. Simmer until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Ensure the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165°F before serving and spoon the sauce over the chicken.
