Description

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder, sifted

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup melted butter, cooled to room temperature
  • 1 egg, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Sift the cocoa powder in a bowl to remove any lumps.
  2. Layer the ingredients in a jar in this order: flour, sifted cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and white chocolate chips.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cooled melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring.
  5. Pour the jar contents into a mixing bowl, make a well in the center, add the wet ingredients, and mix gently.
  6. Drop tablespoon-sized portions of cookie dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  7. Bake for about 10-12 minutes until the edges are set and the centers feel soft.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

For ultimate chewiness, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. They store well in an airtight container for a week or freeze for three months.
