- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley

- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 cups cooked walleye fish (deboned and skinless)
- Vegetable oil for deep-fat frying
- Tartar sauce & ketchup for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 2 lightly beaten eggs, 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup finely chopped onion, 1 clove minced garlic, 1 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley, 1/4 teaspoon fresh dill, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper until a thick paste forms.
- Gently fold in 1 1/2 cups cooked walleye fish until evenly incorporated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F.
- Roll about 1 1/2 tablespoons of the fish mixture into balls and carefully drop them into the hot oil.
- Fry undisturbed for 1 minute until golden brown, then flip and cook for an additional 30 to 40 seconds.
- Transfer fried nuggets to a cooling rack to drain excess oil.
- Continue frying until all the fish mixture is used. Serve with lemon wedges, ketchup, and tartar sauce.
Notes
For a healthier option, bake the nuggets at 400°F for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway.
