Description

A delightful twist on traditional meatloaf, this Cheesy Meatloaf & Tater Tot Bake combines juicy ground beef, crispy tater tots, and gooey cheddar for an ultimate comfort food experience.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (plus more for topping, optional)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, 1 cup cheddar cheese, and ketchup. Mix well until incorporated.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared baking dish, pressing it down evenly.
  4. Arrange the tater tots in a single layer atop the meat mixture.
  5. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until the meat is cooked and the tater tots are golden brown.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the tater tots and return to the oven for an additional 5–7 minutes until melted.
  7. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For best results, let ingredients come to room temperature before mixing. Can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the fridge.
