Description

A rich and comforting casserole combining ground beef, tender potatoes, and creamy cheese, perfect for family gatherings and chilly evenings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or choice)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and brown the ground beef with the chopped onion. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup and milk, mixing well.
  4. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, half of the beef mixture, and half of the cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  5. Pour the soup mixture over the top and cover with foil.
  6. Bake for 1 hour, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

Notes

For best results, shred your cheese from a block rather than using pre-packaged shredded cheese. This helps it melt better.
