Delightful chai-spiced cookies that blend traditional cookie textures with rich, aromatic flavors inspired by chai tea.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chai spice mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Topping: 1/4 cup sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon chai spice mix

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and chai spice mix. Set aside.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, maple syrup, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Sprinkle the chai spice sugar on top of each cookie.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
