- 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 4 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
- 3 large Eggs
- 1/2 cup Sour Cream
- 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
- 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 cups Cake Flour – spooned and leveled
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Ground Cardamom
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 16 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter – softened to room temperature
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of ground cardamom, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon to make the topping. Set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the 3 eggs and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar until frothy.
- Add the oil, sour cream, and vanilla extract and mix well until combined.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the cake flour, baking powder, kosher salt, remaining sugar, 1 tablespoon ground cardamom, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, sprinkle the topping mixture over the surface, and bake for about 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Notes
Use fresh spices for the best flavor. If you don’t have sour cream, Greek yogurt is a good substitute.
