Instructions
- Prepare Your Onions: Peel and thinly slice sweet onions evenly.
- Cook the Onions: Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat, add onions and salt, and cook for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
- Add Garlic and Thyme: Stir in garlic and thyme, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Make the Base: In a bowl, blend sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth.
- Combine Mixtures: Fold in the cooled caramelized onion mixture and season with salt and pepper.
- Chill and Serve: Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.
