  • 2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup full-fat sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  2. Cook the Onions: Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat, add onions and salt, and cook for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Add Garlic and Thyme: Stir in garlic and thyme, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  4. Make the Base: In a bowl, blend sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth.
  5. Combine Mixtures: Fold in the cooled caramelized onion mixture and season with salt and pepper.
