Description

A simple and delicious homemade caramel sauce that adds a rich, buttery flavor to your favorite desserts.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces (85g)
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream (120ml)
  • 0.5 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the granulated sugar in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally with a silicone spatula or wooden spoon until melted and amber in color (about 5 to 8 minutes).
  2. Once melted, carefully whisk in the butter until fully incorporated, expecting a bubbling reaction.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while whisking constantly until smooth and uniform.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the fine sea salt and vanilla extract if using.
  5. Allow to cool for 10 to 15 minutes before transferring to a jar or heat-safe bowl.

Notes

Store leftover caramel in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 day or refrigerate for up to 1 week. Rewarm gently before using.
