Description

A delicious recipe for Brown Sugar Pineapple Wings that blends sweet brown sugar and tangy pineapple for a flavor explosion, perfect for barbecues and family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 900g chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
  • 120ml pineapple juice
  • 60ml soy sauce
  • 55g brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 60ml pineapple chunks
  • 8g cornstarch
  • 30ml water
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add the chicken wings to the marinade bowl, ensuring they’re fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Place the marinated wings on the lined baking sheet in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. While the wings are baking, whisk the cornstarch with water to form a slurry. In a saucepan, pour the leftover marinade and add the pineapple chunks. Bring to a simmer, then slowly whisk in your cornstarch slurry. Simmer until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Once baked, transfer the wings to a large bowl. Drizzle the thick glaze over the wings and toss to coat. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispy wings, broil for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.
