Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Keep stirring until it foams and turns golden-brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Combine the brown butter (after cooling for about 10 minutes), sifted powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a large bowl. Beat until smooth.
- Adjust the consistency by adding additional milk if the frosting is too thick.
- Use the frosting immediately or store it in the fridge and allow it to come back to room temperature before use.
Notes
Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months.
