Description

A comfort food classic featuring juicy beef patties and rich mushroom gravy that delights the palate and warms the heart.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined and form into 4-6 patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties, cooking until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add butter and sliced mushrooms. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until tender and browned.
  4. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms, stirring for about 1 minute. Gradually add beef broth, whisking until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Return the patties to the skillet, spooning gravy over them. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until heated through.
  6. Serve with generous helpings of mushroom gravy, alongside mashed potatoes, veggies, or bread.

Notes

For added flavor, experiment with garlic or fresh herbs. Use a meat thermometer to ensure patties reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
