Description
A comfort food classic featuring juicy beef patties and rich mushroom gravy that delights the palate and warms the heart.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined and form into 4-6 patties.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties, cooking until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter and sliced mushrooms. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until tender and browned.
- Sprinkle flour over mushrooms, stirring for about 1 minute. Gradually add beef broth, whisking until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
- Return the patties to the skillet, spooning gravy over them. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until heated through.
- Serve with generous helpings of mushroom gravy, alongside mashed potatoes, veggies, or bread.
Notes
For added flavor, experiment with garlic or fresh herbs. Use a meat thermometer to ensure patties reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
