- 1 prime rib roast (4 to 6 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 2 cups low sodium beef broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme.
- Rub the prime rib roast generously with olive oil. Coat it evenly with the spice mixture.
- Place the seasoned roast in a roasting pan, bone-side down, and pour the beef broth into the pan.
- Roast the prime rib in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue cooking for about 1.5 to 2 hours, checking for doneness.
- Once done, remove the roast from the oven and tent it with foil. Allow it to rest for at least 20 minutes.
- Slice the roast against the grain and serve with your favorite side dishes.
Notes
Ensure the prime rib is at room temperature before cooking for even cooking. Use a meat thermometer for best results.
