Instructions
- Mash the bananas in a bowl and stir in the lemon juice.
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar, cornstarch, and salt; whisk until blended.
- Gradually whisk in the whole milk until smooth.
- Add the egg yolks and banana mixture; combine thoroughly.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly for 7-10 minutes until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla. Add optional cream and spices if desired.
- Pour into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap touching the surface, and chill for 1-2 hours before use.
