Description

Irresistibly crunchy Baked Jicama Fries with a tender, subtly sweet interior, perfect for a guilt-free snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large jicama (about 1.5 pounds)
  • 2 Tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 Tbsp tapioca starch
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp granulated garlic
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Flaked sea salt (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  2. Peel your jicama and cut it into fry shapes.
  3. Carefully place the fries in the boiling water and let them cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Remove the fries using a slotted spoon or strainer. Place them on a towel and gently pat dry.
  5. Transfer the fries to a large mixing bowl and drizzle with avocado oil. Toss well.
  6. In a small bowl, mix tapioca starch, paprika, basil, cumin, garlic, and salt. Pour over the fries and toss until evenly coated.
  7. Arrange the fries in a single layer on a lined baking sheet, making sure they don’t overlap. Bake for 20 minutes.
  8. After 20 minutes, flip the fries and return to the oven for another 15 minutes.
  9. Once golden and crispy, remove from the oven and sprinkle with flaked sea salt before serving.
