- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk or cream
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 4 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a donut pan with non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the milk, sour cream, egg, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fill each donut mold halfway with the batter.
- Bake for 10-11 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the donuts in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Dip the top of each donut into the glaze and let the excess drip off.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days at room temperature. For longer storage, freeze for up to 2 months.
