Description

A healthier twist on classic donuts, these baked chocolate glazed treats are light, fluffy, and indulgent without the guilt.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or cream
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 4 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a donut pan with non-stick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, sour cream, egg, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fill each donut mold halfway with the batter.
  6. Bake for 10-11 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the donuts in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Dip the top of each donut into the glaze and let the excess drip off.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days at room temperature. For longer storage, freeze for up to 2 months.
