Description

Delicious Argentinian meat empanadas featuring a flaky crust and a savory beef filling, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 dozen empanada dough discs
  • 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Sauté the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped bell pepper in a skillet over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add ground beef, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
  3. Let the filling cool slightly before filling the empanadas.
  4. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each dough disc, ensuring not to overfill.
  5. Fold the dough over the filling and crimp the edges to seal. Use a fork for an extra touch.
  6. Preheat oil to 350°F (175°C) and carefully fry the empanadas in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider baking the empanadas with an egg wash instead of frying.
