Delicious Argentinian meat empanadas featuring a flaky crust and a savory beef filling, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 dozen empanada dough discs
- 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Sauté the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped bell pepper in a skillet over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
- Let the filling cool slightly before filling the empanadas.
- Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each dough disc, ensuring not to overfill.
- Fold the dough over the filling and crimp the edges to seal. Use a fork for an extra touch.
- Preheat oil to 350°F (175°C) and carefully fry the empanadas in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
Notes
For a healthier option, consider baking the empanadas with an egg wash instead of frying.
