Description

Delightfully sweet and savory apple raisin chutney, a perfect condiment to elevate your meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup vinegar (apple cider or white)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the diced apples, raisins, sugar, vinegar, onion, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat while stirring occasionally (about 5-10 minutes).
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring every 10-15 minutes.
  4. Check consistency; it should coat the back of a spoon. If too runny, simmer longer.
  5. Pour the hot chutney into sterilized jars, leaving space at the top, and seal tightly.
  6. Allow to cool to room temperature before refrigerating.

Notes

For optimal flavor, let the chutney sit in the fridge for a few days before serving. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
