Description

A cozy fall classic that combines pumpkin and warm spices, topped with a buttery streusel for an irresistible treat.

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger

  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for streusel)
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (for streusel)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark, for streusel)
  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice or ground cinnamon (for streusel)
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar (for glaze)
  • 1/4 tsp maple extract (can substitute vanilla, for glaze)
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1 Tbsp milk or cream (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350℉ (175℃) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until smooth. Mix in the pumpkin puree and eggs one at a time.
  3. Add spices, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour; mix gently until combined.
  4. Spread the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  5. For the streusel, mix melted butter, flour, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice until it resembles wet sand. Sprinkle over the batter.
  6. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack.
  7. For the glaze, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, maple extract, maple syrup, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days or refrigerate for a week. Freeze tightly wrapped for up to 3 months.
