  • 1 cup powdered sugar (optional filling)
  • 1 cup heavy cream, cold (optional filling)

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast in warm milk for 5-10 minutes until foamy
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, salt, and pumpkin spice
  3. Add pumpkin puree, egg, butter, and yeast mixture to dry ingredients
  4. Knead dough for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic
  5. Let dough rise for 1 hour until doubled in size
  6. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with donut cutter
  7. Fry donuts in 350°F oil for 1-2 minutes per side until golden
  8. Coat hot donuts in cinnamon sugar mixture
  9. For filling: beat cream cheese, pumpkin, spices, and powdered sugar until smooth, then fold in whipped cream
  10. Pipe filling into cooled donuts if desired
