A comforting side dish combining crumbled cornbread with sweet diced apples, savory herbs, and vegetables. This sweet and savory stuffing features a golden, crispy top with a moist, flavorful interior perfect for holiday meals or family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups cubed cornbread (day-old preferred)
  • 2 apples, diced (Granny Smith recommended)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt butter in skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and celery until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In large bowl, combine cornbread, sautéed vegetables, diced apples, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Gradually add vegetable broth, mixing until moist but not soggy.
  5. Transfer to greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Bake 30-35 minutes until golden brown and crispy on top.
  7. Cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

  • Use day-old cornbread for better texture and absorption.
  • Adjust broth quantity based on desired moisture level.
