A delightful and easy recipe for Halloween that creates whimsical ghost-shaped meringues, perfectly light and airy with a touch of vanilla sweetness.

- 3 large egg whites (room temperature)
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate chips or edible eyes for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean mixing bowl, whip the egg whites and cream of tartar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until soft peaks form (about 2-3 minutes).
- Gradually add sugar one tablespoon at a time while continuously whipping on high speed until glossy and stiff peaks form (about 5-7 minutes).
- Pour in the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
- Transfer the meringue mixture to a piping bag and pipe ghost shapes onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 1 to 1.5 hours until dry to the touch and light golden in color.
- Allow to cool completely on the baking sheet (about 30 minutes).
- Decorate with chocolate chips or edible eyes.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Meringues are best made on dry days to avoid excess moisture. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
