Description

A delightful and easy recipe for Halloween that creates whimsical ghost-shaped meringues, perfectly light and airy with a touch of vanilla sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large egg whites (room temperature)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate chips or edible eyes for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, whip the egg whites and cream of tartar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until soft peaks form (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Gradually add sugar one tablespoon at a time while continuously whipping on high speed until glossy and stiff peaks form (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. Pour in the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  5. Transfer the meringue mixture to a piping bag and pipe ghost shapes onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  6. Bake for 1 to 1.5 hours until dry to the touch and light golden in color.
  7. Allow to cool completely on the baking sheet (about 30 minutes).
  8. Decorate with chocolate chips or edible eyes.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Meringues are best made on dry days to avoid excess moisture. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
