Description

Sweet onion rings baked in butter and topped with a cheesy, savory blend until golden and bubbly – a classic Southern comfort side dish that’s both simple and irresistible.


Ingredients

  • 23 large sweet onions (Vidalia, Walla Walla, or Maui)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or blend)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Peel onions and slice into 1/4-inch thick rings. Arrange in baking dish.
  3. Drizzle melted butter over onions.
  4. Sprinkle with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Top with shredded cheese and Parmesan.
  6. Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake 15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
