A decadent twist on the classic pound cake, incorporating cream cheese and a luscious homemade caramel sauce for an incredibly moist and rich dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar (for caramel sauce)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (for caramel sauce)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (for caramel sauce)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for caramel sauce)
  • 1 pinch of salt (for caramel sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a 10-inch bundt pan or two 9×5-inch loaf pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, cream cheese, and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the whole milk, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s) and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 65-75 minutes for the bundt pan, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. For the caramel sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan, add brown sugar, stir until bubbling, then add heavy cream and cook until thickened.
  11. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the cooled cake before serving.

Notes

Ensure your butter and cream cheese are softened for optimal mixing. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
