- 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 bell peppers (1 red, 1 green), sliced into strips
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- For the marinade:
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp rice wine or sherry
- For garnish:
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Marinate beef: Combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and rice wine. Add beef slices and marinate 15 minutes.
- Stir-fry beef: Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in wok over high heat. Cook beef in batches for 1-2 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Cook veggies: Add remaining oil. Stir-fry garlic and ginger for 30 seconds. Add onions and bell peppers; cook 3-4 minutes until crisp-tender.
- Combine: Return beef to wok. Pour in any remaining marinade and toss everything together for 1 minute.
- Finish: Drizzle with sesame oil. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately over rice.

- Slice beef thin and against the grain for maximum tenderness
- For extra heat, add 1 tsp chili garlic paste
- Substitute broccoli or snap peas for variety
- Use low-sodium soy sauce if watching salt intake
